About Meri Wilson
Meri Wilson was an American pop singer-songwriter, born on June 15, 1949 in Japan. She is best known for her popular novelty songs such as “Telephone Man” and “Peter the Meter Reader.” Tragically, she passed away in 2002 at the age of 53 during a car accident caused by an ice storm.
Prior to her music career, Wilson attended Georgia State University where she earned a Master’s degree in Musical Education and Theory.
In addition to her musical accomplishments, Wilson also released a new version of “Telephone Man” called “Internet Man” in 1999 which led to a new record deal with Time-Warner Records.
Wilson’s father served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
