About Mercedes Lackey
Mercedes Lackey is an American fantasy writer, well-known for her Bedlam’s Bard, Diana Tregarde, and SERRAted Edge novels. Born on June 24, 1950 in Illinois, she graduated from Purdue University in 1972 before beginning her literary career by publishing stories in Friends of Darkover and Fantasy Book Magazine. Many of her works are set in the fictional country of Valdemar.
Lackey is particularly proud of By the Sword, a novel she published in 1991. She currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband Larry Dixon, who is also a fantasy artist.
