About Maya DiRado
Maya DiRado (born April 5, 1993) is an American swimmer from San Francisco, California. She is known for her expertise in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and individual medley events. DiRado gained recognition after competing in the 2016 Olympics in Rio where she achieved gold medals in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay and the 200 meter backstroke.Before gaining international acclaim, DiRado excelled as a three-time high school state champion in the 200-yard individual medley. She continued to pursue her passion for swimming while studying management science and engineering at Stanford University. In addition to her academic accomplishments, she notably won NCAA titles in both the 200 and 400 yard individual medley during her time at Stanford in 2014.Born to Marit and Ruben DiRado, Maya later married fellow Stanford swimmer Rob Andrews in 2015.
