About Maurren Maggi
Maurren Maggi, born on June 27, 1976 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a former track and field athlete known for her achievements in the long jump. She set South American records in the 100 meter hurdles and long jump during her career.
Maggi’s notable accomplishments include winning gold medals in the long jump at the 2008 Summer Olympics as well as at the 1999, 2007 and 2011 Pan American Games. Prior to gaining international recognition, she finished third at the 1999 Universiade event in the long jump.
As a trailblazer for Brazilian athletes, Maggi made history by becoming the first Brazilian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual sport. In her personal life, she is married to race car driver Antonio Pizzonia and together they have a daughter named Sophia. Her parents are Rute and William.
