About Mary Robison
Mary Robison is an American novelist and short story writer, born on January 14, 1949 in Washington, DC. She is best known for her novel “Why Did I Ever,” which received the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in 2001. Her other notable works include “Oh!,” “Subtraction,” “Believe Them: Stories,” and “An Amateur’s Guide to the Night.”
Robison pursued her education at Ohio State University and Johns Hopkins University before embarking on a teaching career at institutions such as Oberlin College and Harvard University.
In 2009, she was honored with the Rea Award for the Short Story in recognition of her literary contributions. She was born to a lawyer father and psychologist mother in Washington, D.C., and has two daughters from her first marriage. Her second marriage was to fellow writer James Robison.
