About Martina Thornhill
Martina Thornhill is an American sculptor born on January 13, 1984. She is known for her work in ceramics, creating vessels inspired by nature, flea markets, folk crafts, abstract art and travel.
Thornhill’s journey as a potter began when she started posting pictures of her mugs on Instagram, which eventually led to the organic growth of her pottery business. In addition to her ceramic work, she has also designed and sold children’s clothes and home goods.
Prior to gaining recognition as a sculptor, Thornhill honed various skills including sewing, pattern drafting, ceramic arts during high school along with upholstery, natural dying techniques and more. When she first started sculpting, she worked out of the spare bedroom in her house before setting up a kiln for bisque firing on her porch and later converting a garage into a studio space.
In 2011,Thornhill made the decision to move from Portland to the east coast with her husband. The couple shares a daughter named Lupe.
