About Marina Gonzalez
Marina Gonzalez (born December 5, 2002) is a Spanish gymnast who gained international attention for her achievements in the sport. She notably won the gold medal for floor exercise at the 2019 FIG World Challenge Cup in Szombathely and went on to represent Spain at the 2019 World Championships.
In addition to her individual successes, Gonzalez was selected for Spain’s women’s gymnastics team at the 2020 Olympics, where she played a key role in leading the team to a 12th place finish.
Following her Olympic experience, Gonzalez signed with Iowa State University’s gymnastics team for their 2021-22 season, showcasing her talent on an international stage once more.
Prior to pursuing competitive gymnastics, Marina trained in taekwondo and even competed in the Catalan regional taekwondo championships before transitioning to gymnastics at age eight.
Beyond her athletic pursuits, Gonzalez has also garnered a significant following on social media platform TikTok. Her account, marinago_02, boasts over 1.3 million followers and has accumulated more than twenty-five million likes from fans around the world.
In November of 2022, Marina underwent ACL surgery as part of her journey through injury recovery – showcasing resilience and determination that extends beyond just physical prowess.
Gonzalez hails from Malgrat de Mar in Catalonia, Spain where she was born and raised. She is fluent in both Catalan and Spanish languages
