About Mariela Griffor
Mariela Griffor (born September 29, 1961) is a Chilean poet, author, academic, and activist known for her works such as Exiliana and Resolana. She has also been involved in academia and publishing, working for Marick Press and co-founding Wayne State University’s creative writing program.
Griffor was forced to live in Sweden during the 1980s and ’90s, an experience that informed her debut poetry collection Exiliana. She received her B.A. from Wayne State University and her M.F.A. from New England College.
She married an American and gave birth to two daughters before settling with her family in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan.
