About Mariechan Luiters
Mariechan Luiters (born November 1, 1982) is a South African pop singer. She gained fame as one-third of the all-girl group Jamali, alongside Jacqui Carpede and Liesl Penniken.
The group formed in 2004 during the Coca-Cola Popstars talent search contest, where they finished as runner-ups to the boy band Ghetto Lingo. Prior to her success with Jamali, Luiters began writing songs at just 11 years old and was a lead vocalist for a local jazz band before joining the pop group Unique Attraction.
Luiters and her Jamali group mates made their radio debut with the single “Greatest Love.” Born and raised in Stellenbosch, South Africa, she comes from a family that shares a passion for Motown and jazz music.
