About Maria Julia Mantilla
Maria Julia Mantilla is a beauty queen from Trujillo, Peru, who rose to fame after being crowned Miss World. She was born on July 10, 1984.
Before gaining international recognition as a pageant contestant, Mantilla excelled in sports and was named the national athlete of the year in 2001 for her achievements in Triathlon and Pentathlon at the Peruvian championships.
She comes from a family with pageantry legacy as her aunt was also crowned Miss World in 1969. Mantilla herself made history by becoming the second woman from Peru to win the prestigious title.
Outside of her career in pageantry, she married Gustavo Salcedo Ramirez-Gaston in 2012 and they have a son together named Gustavo Salcedo Mantilla. She continues to be involved with various charitable causes around the world through her platform as Miss World.
