About Maria Leon
Maria Leon is a Mexican pop singer born on February 14, 1986, in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is best known as the former lead singer of the popular Mexican pop band Playa Limbo.
At the age of six, Maria wrote her first song dedicated to her mother. Her professional career began at 14 when she participated and won in the singing competition reality show Pop Stars. This victory led to the formation of the band T de Tequila.
In 2003, Playa Limbo was formed with Angel Baillo and Jorge Corrales, and shortly thereafter Maria joined as their lead vocalist. The band gained recognition and was nominated for Pop Group of the Year at the Lo Nuestro Awards in both 2010 and 2011.
In 2016, she announced her departure from Playa Limbo to pursue other projects. Subsequently in 2017, she landed a role in Telemundo’s telenovela Guerra de Idolos. In addition to her acting career, she released her debut solo album titled Inquebrantable in 2018.
Maria has also showcased her talent outside of music by winning the third season of Bailando por un Sueno (the Mexican version of Dancing with the Stars) in 2014.
