Margie Abbott (born February 1, 1958) is a public figure known for her role as the wife of former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. She was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand to postal workers Gail and Max Aitken.
Before marrying into politics, Margie attended the Wellington Teachers College and later worked in marketing at a Sydney bank. She also served as director of a New South Wales childcare center.
She and Tony Abbott married in 1988 and subsequently became parents to three daughters. Margie was raised in the Roman Catholic faith.
