About Maria Luisa Piraquive
Maria Luisa Piraquive is a Colombian religious leader, singer, and educator. She was born on February 10, 1949 in Chipata, Santander, Colombia. Piraquive is best known for her role as the co-founder and leader of the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International.
Piraquive began her career with the CGMJCI in 1971 as an active member before pursuing higher education at the University of La Sabana. There, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Education and Literature along with a diploma in Community Management and Educational Management. In 1996, she was elected Leader of the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International.
Aside from her leadership position within the church, Piraquive also serves as director of Ministries and Gifts Bible Institute where she teaches internationally broadcasted Bible Study Guides.
In addition to her religious contributions, Maria Luisa has received recognition beyond her spiritual work. She was honored with the Frida award from Via Nostrim in Argentina in 2011 and awarded the Wings of Hope Award by the Colombian Air Force in 2012.
Piraquive’s daughter Alexandra Moreno Piraquive is a politician and Maria Luisa herself married Humberto Romero Medina in 2006.
