Malorie Blackman, born on February 8th, 1962 in London, England, is an award-winning English author renowned for her popular Noughts and Crosses young adult book series. In addition to this well-known work, she has also penned novels such as Whizziwig Returns, The Space Stowaway, and Operation Gadgetman targeted at children.
Before gaining recognition as a novelist, Blackman graduated from Britain’s National Film and Television School and embarked on a career writing scripts for children’s television shows such as Byker Grove. Her literary debut occurred with the publication of a collection of short stories for children in 1990.
In 2013, she was appointed the prestigious role of Children’s Laureate for the United Kingdom.
