Maliyah Herrin, born on February 26, 2002, in Salt Lake City, Utah, is known for being one of the conjoined twins who underwent a groundbreaking separation. Along with her twin sister Kendra Herrin, Maliyah became the first pair of conjoined twins with a shared kidney to be successfully separated in August 2006.
Following the operation, Kendra retained the kidney while Maliyah had to undergo dialysis until receiving a kidney donation from her mother Erin. Their mother wrote a book titled “When Hearts Conjoin,” chronicling their family’s journey and experiences.
For the first four years of their lives, Maliyah and Kendra were joined at the abdomen and pelvis before undergoing life-changing surgery. The remarkable story of these sisters garnered widespread attention and was featured on various talk shows following their successful separation.
Maliyah comes from a loving family consisting of parents Erin and Jake Herrin along with four other siblings named Courtney, Jeffrey, Austin,and Justin.
