About Malene Birger
Malene Birger is a Danish fashion designer known for her work with brands such as Day Birger et Mikkelsen and By Malene Birger. She was born on December 1, 1962, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Birger first gained recognition in 1997 as the co-founder of Day Birger et Mikkelsen. After leaving the company in 2002, she went on to launch her own label, By Malene Birger. She served as the creative director of the brand until 2014 when she started the interior design company called Birger1962.
After graduating from the Danish Design School in 1989, she began working as a designer for Jackpot by Carli Gry.
Birger has also been involved with philanthropy and has served as a Danish ambassador for UNICEF. She has designed and sold pieces to benefit the humanitarian agency throughout her career.
Originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, she currently resides in Majorca, Spain.
