About Malalai Joya
Malahai Joya, born on April 25th, 1978 in Afghanistan, is a politician known for her activism and writing. She served as a Parliamentarian in the National Assembly of Afghanistan until she was dismissed in 2007 for speaking out against war criminals. Joya has been a vocal critic of the Karzai administration and the US’s support of it.
Before gaining political prominence, Joya was a social activist and was appointed as Director of the Organisation of Promoting Afghan Women’s Capabilities.
In recognition of her impact, she was included in Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2010.
