About Maisey Rika
Maisey Rika is a New Zealand folk singer born on May 10, 1983. She gained recognition for her unique blend of folk, acoustic, soul, and easy listening music.
Rika’s breakthrough album, “E Hine,” featured Maori traditional songs and achieved double platinum status. It also earned the prize for Best Maori Language Album at the New Zealand Music Awards.
Notably, she performed at the Giant Rugby Ball in Tokyo, Japan in October 2009 to promote the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
Her ancestry includes Ngati Awa, Te Arawa, Tuhoe, and Te Whanau-a-Apanui. Her mother Rebecca “Honey” Rika was a singer who fostered Maisey’s talent from an early age.
