Lonette McKee, born on July 22, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, is a multi-talented actress and songwriter. She gained recognition for her portrayal of jazz legend Billie Holiday which earned her a Tony Award nomination. McKee’s notable film appearances include roles in Malcolm X and Men of Honor.
Before gaining fame as an actress, McKee was known as a musical child prodigy who recorded her first album at the age of 14. In addition to her acting career, she has also worked as a jazz singer.
