Lisa Montgomery was born on February 27, 1968 in Kansas. She was a convicted killer who made history in January 2021 as the first woman to be executed in the United States in 67 years. At the time of her execution by lethal injection, she was the only woman on federal death row.
Prior to gaining infamy, Montgomery was tried and convicted for the murder of Bobbie Jo Stinnett in 2007. Her death marked only the fourth instance of a woman being executed by the United States.
Throughout her life, Montgomery had been married twice before committing murder and had experienced a difficult upbringing characterized by an abusive household.
