About Linnie Marsh Wolfe
Linnie Marsh Wolfe (January 8, 1881 – May 21, 1945) was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and librarian. Born in Michigan, she is best known for her biography of naturalist John Muir, which earned her the prestigious literary award.
Wolfe obtained her bachelor’s degree from Whitman College and her master’s degree from Radcliffe College. She furthered her education at the University of Southern California’s library school before embarking on a career in librarianship.
In 1924, she married Roy Wolfe and spent time teaching in California while also working as a librarian in Washington. Tragically, she passed away before being able to receive her Pulitzer Prize recognition.
