About Linda Fairstein
Linda Fairstein is a lawyer, novelist, and former Assistant District Attorney best known for her role as head of the Sex Crimes Unit of the County of New York. She gained attention during the Central Park Five trial in 1989. Before pursuing law, she earned a degree in English Literature from Vassar College and graduated from the University of Virginia Law School in 1972. That same year, she joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and was later promoted to lead the Sex Crimes unit.
She was born on May 5, 1947, in New York and grew up in Mount Vernon. In 2014, she married Michael Goldberg.
In response to controversy around her involvement with the Central Park Five case, Fairstein was dropped by her publisher Dutton following the release of Netflix series When They See Us.
