About Lensey Namioka
Lensey Namioka (born June 14, 1929) is a Chinese-American children’s author best known for such stories and novels as The All American Slurp and Ties that Bind, Ties that Break. She was born in China and later immigrated to the United States.
Prior to achieving fame as an author, Namioka wrote several literary works including Who’s Hu? and White Serpent Castle. Her contributions were honoured with the Washington State Governor’s Award for Writers in 1989 for her work Island of Ogres.
As a tribute to her Japanese husband’s heritage, she authored numerous works of Samurai-themed fiction.
