Leigh Anne Tuohy, born on August 6, 1960 in Tennessee, is best known for her role in raising NFL lineman Michael Oher, whom her family adopted after he was neglected by his birth parents. She gained widespread attention after being featured in Michael Lewis’ book “The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game,” and was portrayed by Sandra Bullock in the 2009 film adaptation “The Blind Side,” a performance that earned Bullock an Academy Award.
Prior to her fame, Tuohy graduated from the University of Mississippi in the early 1980s. During her time at Ole Miss, she was involved with the cheerleading team and also became a member of the Kappa Delta sorority.
Alongside her husband Sean Tuohy, Leigh Anne owns more than 93 fast food franchises and is a New York Times bestselling author of “In a Heartbeat.” Together they are also founders of The Making it Happen Foundation.
