About Laura Lepisto
Laura Lepisto, born on April 25, 1988 in Finland, is a Finnish former figure skater. She is known for her notable achievements in the sport, including winning a gold medal in ladies’ singles at the 2009 European Figure Skating Championships and becoming the first Finnish female to medal at the World Championships by winning bronze in 2010.
Before gaining international recognition, Lepisto made herself known during the 2002-03 season when she won the junior gold medal at the Warsaw Cup. In addition to her athletic career, Lepisto also gained attention for issuing an apology after performing in North Korea at an event meant to honor Kim Jong-il.
Lepisto comes from a family of figure skaters; her older sister also pursues a career in this sport.
