About Lalla Essaydi
Lalla Essaydi is a Moroccan photographer known for her staged portraits of Arab women. Born on November 6, 1956, in Marrakesh, Morocco, she attended the school Beaux-Arts de Paris in the 1990s and later obtained her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Her work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the National Museum of African Art in Washington D.C. and the San Diego Museum of Art. Notably, she was awarded the Medal Award from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 2012.
In addition to her career as an artist, Essaydi has two children and was briefly married.
