About Kristina Vogel
Kristina Vogel is a German track cyclist born on November 10, 1990. She gained recognition as a sprinter and is best known for winning two gold medals at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Unfortunately, she was paralyzed after an accident at the Cottbus Velodrome in June of 2018.
Before her fame, Vogel competed at the Junior European World Championships in 2007 and 2008, becoming a six-time junior world champion before sustaining an injury in April of 2009. She made a comeback to compete at the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
In addition to her cycling career, Vogel ventured into politics and ran for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany in the Erfurt city council elections in 2019.
Vogel was born in Leninskoye, Bishkek, Kirghiz SSR but moved to Germany with her parents when she was six months old where she was raised.
