About Kathy Durkin
Kathy Durkin (born April 1, 1955) is an Irish country singer known for her contributions to the country and Irish music genres. She gained widespread recognition with her rendition of Rita Macneil‘s “Working Man” in 1991 and released her first full-length album, Moonlight Reflections, in 1989.
Combining North American country music with Irish influences, Durkin secured a recording contract with Harmac Records following an appearance on RTE Television. Notably, she performed at the Wembley International Country Music Festival in 1990 and also achieved success as part of the Cavan women’s football team by winning the All-Ireland Senior Ladies’ Football Championship in 1997. Durkin hails from a musically inclined family -her father Eugene Leddy is a renowned Irish fiddler while her son Andreas follows in his mother’s footsteps as a singer.
