About Kathleen Scott
Kathleen Scott was an English sculptor, born on March 27, 1878, in England. She gained recognition for her work, which was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
Scott was one of eleven children born to Jane Skene and Canon Lloyd Stuart Bruce. She attended London’s Slade School of Fine Art before pursuing a career as a sculptor.
An interesting trivia about Scott is that her sculpture of Titanic captain Edward Smith was installed at Beacon Park in Lichfield, England.
In terms of family life, she was first married to explorer Robert Falcon Scott and had a son with him. After his death in Antarctica, she remarried politician Edward Hilton Young and gave birth to another son.
