She is best known for creating the character Granny O’Grimm and writing and providing a voice for the ensuing short film Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty. O’Rourke was a member of Funny Girls and the award-winning Fallen Angels Cabaret. Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 82nd Academy Awards and has received 11 national and international awards.
O’Rourke began her career as a stand-up comedian in 2002 before transitioning to TV writing, working on series like Crap Rap and its miniseries follow-up, Crap Rap 2. In 2010, she was featured on the TV show Xpose which delves into celebrity life in Ireland and Hollywood.
