About Kathleen Flores
Kathleen Flores (February 7, 1955 – October 2021) was an American rugby player and coach. She served as the head coach of the American national women’s rugby team from 2002 to 2011, in addition to coaching at Brown University and the Providence Women’s Rugby team.
Before her career in rugby, Flores played basketball and participated in track and field at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. She later discovered rugby while pursuing her master’s degree at Florida State University. Flores made her debut on the then-unofficial American national women’s rugby team in 1986 before joining the Berkeley All Blues in 1994.
Throughout her life, Kathleen Flores dedicated herself to spreading appreciation for and knowledge of rugby. Unfortunately, she passed away from colon cancer at the age of 66 in October 2021.
