About Katherine Stinson
Katherine Stinson (born February 14, 1891 in Fort Payne, Alabama) was an American pilot who became known as America’s first licensed female pilot. She was a pioneer of the loop stunt and one of the early female pilots authorized to transport United States airmail.
Before her fame as a pilot, she took up piloting as a Way to fund her piano lessons. Stinson married fellow pilot Miguel Antonio Otero, Jr. in 1928.
