Kari Michaelsen (born November 3, 1961) is an American television actress known for her role as Katie Kanisky on the NBC sitcom Gimme a Break! during the 1980s. She was born in New York City and grew up splitting her time between there and Los Angeles.
Before gaining fame on Gimme a Break!, Michaelsen lent her singing voice to the Sesame Street soundtrack and performed in several Off-Broadway productions during her childhood years. Her other television credits include guest star roles on popular shows like Hart to Hart, Full House, and The Incredible Hulk.
Michaelsen was educated at Beverly Hills High School and went on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles.
Born Kari Markussen, she is the daughter of singer Arne Markussen and dancer Roberta Stevenson. Michaelsen was married to David Waldock for seven years, with whom she has a son named Nickolas.
