About Jyotirmoyee Sikdar
Jyotirmoyee Sikdar (born December 11, 1969) is an Indian middle-distance runner who hails from the Nadia district of West Bengal. She achieved notable success in her athletic career, winning gold at the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1998 and at the 1995 Asian Athletics Championships.
Aside from her accomplishments on the track, Sikdar also ventured into politics and became a member of the Indian Parliament. She was associated with the Communist Party of India during her political tenure.
Sikdar’s personal life gained public attention when her husband faced legal issues after being arrested on charges related to running a sex racket in Kolkata.
