Julia Duffy, born on June 27, 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a television actress best known for her role as Stephanie Vanderkellen on the sitcom Newhart from 1982 to 1990. She also appeared in the show Designing Women from 1986 to 1993.
Before gaining fame, she attended and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. In addition to her notable roles, she also made appearances on Nickelodeon and WB sitcoms.
In 1984, Duffy married Jerry Lacy with whom she has a daughter named Kerry and a son named Danny.
