About Judith Resnik
Judith Resnik (April 5, 1949 – January 28, 1986) was an American astronaut born in Akron, Ohio. She was the second American female astronaut and the first American Jewish astronaut. Tragically, Resnik died in the Challenger explosion.
Resnik had previously been a part of a mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery and had logged 145 hours in space as a mission specialist on its maiden voyage.
Before her fame as an astronaut, she achieved a perfect score on the SAT in high school and later earned an electrical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
In her personal life, she married Michael Oldak, with whom she attended Carnegie Mellon University. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce four years later.
