About Judith Guest
Judith Guest, born on March 29, 1936 in Michigan, is an American novelist and screenwriter. She is best known for her 1982 novel “Second Heaven” and her acclaimed work “Ordinary People”, which was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.
Before pursuing writing full-time, Guest taught at a public school for several years. She published her debut novel, “Ordinary People”, in 1976.
In addition to her literary achievements, she is the great-niece of Edgar Guest, a former U.S. Poet Laureate.
Gest married her college sweetheart Lawrence David LaVercombe (Larry) and together they had three children.
