Juanita Hansen (1895-03-03) was an American silent film-era actress born in Des Moines, Iowa. She initially gained fame as one of Mack Sennett’s ‘Bathing Beauties,’ known for her work in slapstick comedy, and eventually secured a $1,500-per-week contract.
Hansen faced challenges in her career due to a cocaine addiction that made her unemployable until she achieved sobriety in 1928. However, a hotel accident left her injured and addicted to morphine.
After overcoming these struggles, Hansen wrote a book about her experiences and embarked on a nationwide tour where she spoke about addiction. She went on to inspire many with her story of resilience and recovery.
