About Josephine Hopper
Josephine Hopper (born March 18, 1883) was an American painter known for her work and as the wife of painter Edward Hopper. She was born in New York and enrolled at Hunter College in 1900 when it was a free school for young women.
Josephine painted The Provincetown Bedroom and went on to get married to Edward Hopper in 1924. After his death, she donated her entire artistic estate to the Whitney Museum of American Art.
