About Joan Kroc
Joan Kroc was born on August 27, 1928, in Minnesota. She is known as an entrepreneur, businesswoman, and philanthropist who inherited the fortune of her husband, McDonald’s CEO Ray Kroc, following his death in 1984. In addition to her business endeavors, Joan Kroc was also the former owner of Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres.
Prior to her success in business and philanthropy, Joan Kroc was a music student at the MacPhail School of Music. Her generosity extended beyond her lifetime with her will including many generous donations to charitable causes; notably a $1.6 billion contribution to the Salvation Army.
Joan Kroc had one child named Linda who was born in 1946.
