About Jo Brand
Jo Brand is a British comedian and actress born on July 23, 1957 in London, England. She is known for her appearances on the BBC monologue show The Brain Dead and as a judge on the ITV celebrity diving show Splash! Additionally, she played the antagonist in Horrid Henry: The Movie.
Prior to her comedy career, Brand attended Brunel University and worked as a psychiatric nurse for ten years at the South London Bethlem and Cefn Coed Hospital in Swansea. She began performing standup under the stage name “The Sea Monster” and eventually gained recognition with an appearance on Saturday Live television show.
Brand has also delved into writing, authoring several books including The More You Ignore Me. In her personal life, she has two daughters with husband Bernie Bourke. Born as a middle child with two brothers, Jo’s father worked as a structural engineer.
