Jill Bolte Taylor, born on May 15, 1959 in Kentucky, is an American author and neuroanatomist. She has conducted extensive research on the postmortem human brain in relation to schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses. Additionally, she is the founder of the nonprofit organization Jill Bolte Taylor Brains, Inc.
Prior to gaining attention for her work in neuroscience, Taylor suffered a stroke at the age of 37 in 1996. This life-changing event inspired her subsequent career as a scientist and author.
Named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world in their 2008 list, Taylor grew up with her family in Louisville, Kentucky.
