About Jill Dando
Jill Dando was an English journalist and television host, best known as the presenter of the BBC show Crimewatch. She was born on November 9, 1961 in England.
Before her career in broadcasting, Dando had been head girl at Broadoak Sixth Form Centre and performed in plays at the Barnfield Theatre.
In 1997, she was named BBC Personality of the Year. However, her life was tragically cut short when she was shot and killed outside her home in April 1999.
A man was convicted for her murder but later his acquittal followed. The Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science was founded in her honor two years after her untimely death.
She had been engaged to obstetrician and gynecologist Alan Farthing at the time of her passing. A Serbian warlord has also been named a suspect posthumously.
