Jessie Redmon Fauset (1882-04-27) was an American poet, novelist, and editor who played a crucial role in The Harlem Renaissance. She is known for her four novels: There is Confusion, Plum Bun, The Chinaberry Tree, and Comedy, American Style. Prior to gaining recognition as a writer, she worked as the editor of The Crisis magazine published by the NAACP. Furthermore, Fauset spent nearly two decades teaching French at New York City’s Dewitt Clinton High School before marrying Herbert Harris in 1929.
