About Jen Richards
Jen Richards, born on January 30, 1976 in Natchez, Mississippi, is an American actress, writer and activist. She is known for her advocacy work for the transgender community and gender and racial justice.
Richards gained national attention through her role as a series regular on E! Network’s “I Am Cait” alongside Caitlyn Jenner. Prior to her acting career, she studied at Oxford University and in Kyoto, Japan. From 2008 to 2013, she served as manager and director of the Grammy Award-winning music ensemble Eighth Blackbird.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Jen Richards co-created We Happy Trans – an online forum showcasing positive transgender experiences. In 2015, she began working on the web series “Her Story,” which features stories written, directed and acted by transgender women with a goal of providing accurate portrayals of transgender men and women in media.
Through her journey as a visible trans woman who came out later in life – at age 36 – Richards has been vocal about finding empowerment through living authentically.
