About Ivy Baker Priest
Ivy Baker Priest was an American politician born on September 7, 1905, in Kimberly, Utah. She was a member of the Republican Party and held various political offices throughout her career.
After serving as the thirtieth Treasurer of the United States of America, Priest went on to become California State Treasurer. Before her political career, she launched an unsuccessful campaign for a United States Congressional seat from Utah in 1934 and later joined Utah’s Republican Committee.
Priest was also known for her affiliation with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She grew up in Kimberly, Utah as the daughter of a gold miner and had two marriages – to Roy Fletcher Priest and Sidney William Stevens – which resulted in four children, including television actress Pat Priest.
