About Ivory Aquino
Ivory Aquino is a television actress and performer known for her portrayal of transgender activist Cecilia Chung on the series When We Rise. She was born in the Philippines on March 3, 1979. Apart from this role, she also played Lourdes Mendoza on City on a Hill and has made appearances on other shows like When They See Us, New Amsterdam, and Blue Bloods.
From a young age, Ivory knew she was transgender and received support from her parents during her transition. Despite facing bullying at school, she graduated summa cum laude from the Berklee College of Music before entering the TV industry.
In addition to her acting career, Ivory appeared in The Drilling Company’s Bryant Park Presents production of Romeo and Juliet in 2015. She is also an advocate for trans children and transgender rights. Outside work, she adopted a Shih Tzu dog named Chewybear to be part of her family.
