About Isabell Werth
Isabell Werth (born July 21, 1969) is a German equestrian and world champion in dressage. She has competed in the Olympics six times, winning 12 medals including seven golds. As of 2023, she holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by any equestrian athlete.
Werth has also claimed nine World Championships and 17 European Championships titles throughout her career.
Born and raised in Sevelen, Germany, Werth developed a passion for horseback riding at a young age. She began receiving coaching at the age of 17 and made her Olympic debut in 1992, where she clinched her first gold medal.
In addition to her sporting achievements, Werth holds a degree in law and worked as an attorney before becoming a professional dressage rider in 2004.
An interesting aspect of her legacy is the computer game “Isabell Werth – Reitsport,” which was created and named after her in 2007. The game allows players to participate in simulated equestrian events with Werth acting as their coach.
Famously known for winning gold at every Olympic Games she has participated in, Werth was elected president of the International Dressage Riders’ Club in 2020.
