About Irina Korzhanenko
Irina Korzhanenko is a former Russian shot putter, born on May 16th, 1974 in Russia. She gained notoriety after being stripped of her Olympic gold medal in 2004 due to testing positive for steroids.
Before her infamous doping scandal, Korzhanenko achieved success in shot putting by winning a bronze medal at the 1997 IAAF World Indoor Shot Put Championships.
Despite the controversy and being asked to return her gold medal, Korzhanenko refused and maintained her innocence regarding the use of steroids. She was raised by parents Elena and Boris Korzhanenko.
