Inga Swenson was born on December 29, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska. She is a TV actress best known for her portrayal of Gretchen Kraus on the television series Benson. In addition to her work in television, Swenson has appeared in multiple Broadway productions such as 110 in the Shade and Baker Street.
Before rising to fame, she studied drama at Northwestern University and first gained recognition by starring as Ingrid Svenson on the show Soap. Swenson has been nominated twice for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
She married Lowell Harris in 1953, and the couple had two sons.
